From: Alan Miller Subject: bios flash Just thought I'd post this for anyone who's interested.. This morning I flashed the bios of my 550x2 BP6 to the beta bios as per abit's recommendations (floppy, no decive drivers, etc), but something still went wrong and when I hit F1 to reset the machine wouldn't boot up again. I tried clearig the cmos, removing all nonessential cables and even banging on the box, but woe is me, it wouldn't boot. Luckily, I happen to have a 450x2 BP6 sitting right next to me with a working bios chip. I booted into dos with on the 450, removed the working bios chip from it *while it was on*, inserted the non-working bios chip and flashed it from a bios image I had on disk. Didn't fry anything and both machine work great now, but be careful when doing it. I suppose this would work on two boards that are not identical specifications (but both abit) as the awdflash program tells you that you're not installing the correct bios for the board but lets you continue anyway if I remember correctly. I only recommend this as a last resort for anyone. Alan
