Announcements

  1. You must read the discussion syllabus.
  2. Please check this website every week. Write down the URL on your journal so you don't forget.
  3. I wrote a Physics 9C discussion FAQ. Let me know if there's a question you want to see answered in it.
  4. Here are some practise questions I wrote for a previous discussion. You may find them useful.
  5. Hang on to journal 1. When you hand in the work at the end of the quarter, I'd like to see Journal 1 as well as Journal 2. If I see an improvement, I might give extra points.
  6. The journals are due next week. Tuesday sections are due March 11. Thursday sections are due March 13.

First Journal Grading

Please see this faq entry for a description of journal grades.

Also, if you see some codes in your journal, that's called a rubrik. A rubrik is a way of communicating an idea to many people without writing the same thing over and over again. For instance, if you see "E", that's telling you that you drew electric field lines without a direction.

For a listing of rubrik codes and what they mean, see this faq entry.

When computing the grades, I tried to read everything, but concentrated on:

I have solutions to some of these problems with me. Come up and ask me if you want to see them.

If you want tips on how to increase your score for the 2nd journal collection, read this FAQ entry.

Also, hang on to your work. When you hand in the work at the end of the quarter, I'd like to see Journal 1 as well as Journal 2. If I see an improvement, I might give extra points.

Physics Questions

Here are some physics questions that I get asked during discussion. If you have a question, perhaps it's answered here. I've organized the questions by discussion week.

If there are any questions you have, or if there's information that you'd like to see on this website that isn't here, please email me. and let me know.
