18th Pacific Coast Gravity Meeting
University of California at Davis
March 29-30 2002
Details
Location:
The conference will take place on the UC Davis campus at Roessler 55, directly
across from the Physics/Geology building.
In addition to an overhead transparency projector, we will have a computer projector available.
If you plan to use a computer in your talk, please let an organizer know at least an hour in
advance so we can get set up quickly.
Transportation:
If you are staying at one of the conference hotels or in downtown Davis, you have several
options for getting to the conference site:
- We have arranged a shuttle bus to run between the conference hotels and the conference
site on Friday and Saturday. There will be two pick-ups:
- At the Unitrans bus stop at the corner of Olive Drive and Richards Blvd., very near the
University Park Inn;
- At the Unitrans bus stop at the corner of Cowell Blvd. and Research Park Drive, near
the Comfort Suites and the Holiday Inn Express.
Pick-ups will be Friday at 9:00 am and Saturday at 8:00 am and 8:30 am. There will be one
return trip, Saturday at 5:30 pm. (On Friday, people can take the regular Unitrans bus.)
- On Friday only, the Unitrans bus will be
running (fare 50 cents). The W Line has stops very near the conference motels. Please note
that the buses are on the Spring Break schedule.
- If you have a car, or can carpool with someone who does, it's a short drive from the
hotels to the conference. See the lodging page and this map for parking information.
- It's not too long a walk from the motels to campus. Here is a pdf (warning: 2MB download)
map that also shows
walking routes, and here is another map.
We will have more detailed information available at the conference hotels.
- For more details, see our transportation page.
Meals:
The conference will provide morning and afternoon coffee breaks and a free lunch on Saturday,
courtesy of the U.C. Davis Physics Department and the UCD Division of Mathematical and Physical
Sciences. For other meals, see the "Eateries" page of the
conference web site.
Computer access:
We have arranged a temporary computer account for people to use. Please use this account
only to ssh into your own computer. Information will be available at the conference.
Talks:
The conference web site now has a preliminary schedule of talks. If
you have submitted a talk title, please check to see when you are slated to speak. Please also
check that we have your student/non-student status correct. Talks will be 10 minutes, plus
two minutes for questions, as measured by a nearly inertial timekeeper who will strictly
enforce the time limits.
