Eateries

We are quite proud of the fact that our small town boasts not one, but two, Indian restaurants, and two Thai restaurants to boot. There are plenty of options for fine dining (and lunching?). Here are some of our suggestions. They aren't far from campus.

  • Ubiquitous Pizza
    • Steve's Pizza. F Street between 3rd and 4th. Nice salad bar.
    • Woodstocks's Pizza. A Davis institution of sorts.
  • Greek, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern
    • Sam's Mediterranean Cuisine. Very close to campus.
    • The Symposium. Good food. Fantastic Greek pizzas. A bit far from campus.
    • Ali Baba's. Very close to campus.
  • Thai
    • Sophia's Thai Cuisine. A Davis institution of sorts. Very quaint, but sometimes crowded.
    • Thai Recipes. Across the street from Sophias.
  • Indian
    • Kathmandu. More upscale than Raja's. All you can eat lunches.
    • Raja's. Very close to campus. All you can eat lunches.
  • Mexican
    • Rosita's Cocina. Nice Salsa bar. Across the street from Sophia's and Thai Recipes.
    • Dos Coyotes Good food; a noisy. A bit far from campus.
  • Chinese
    • Ding How. A little far from campus. They have a gigantic vegetarian menu.
    • Orange Hut. Very close to campus.
    • Great Wall of China. All you can eat lunches. Popular place.
  • Other
    • Sudwerk's. A Davis institution. It's a microbrewery with very good food. A bit far from campus.
    • Soga's. Very upscale, but not outrageously expensive. California cuisine.
    • The Plumshire Inn. Very good, very reasonable, upscale restaurant. Rather far from campus.
    • The Crepe Bistro: 234 E Street (530) 753-2575. Wonderful French food, very informal, very reasonable prices. You haven't had garlic until you've had escargot from the Bistro. Is open till very late.
    • Jamba Juice: Smoothies, vegetable juices and soups. 500 1st Street Suite, next to Border's Books. (530) 757-8499.
    • Super Salad.
  • Breakfast and Cafes
    • Baker's Square. 255 Second Street.
    • Cafe Bernardo. 234 D Street. Great coffee. Great desserts. Also has great food.
    • Cafe Roma. 223 Third Street. Very close to campus.
    • Delta of Venus Cafe & Pub. The Davis version of a San Francisco coffee house. Trendy. Excellent breakfast food and coffee. Usually crowded. Bohemian. Rather close to campus. Vegan offerings.
    • Konditorei Austrian Pastry Cafe. 2710 5th Street. The best pastry place in Davis. Unfortunately, it's pretty far from campus and their coffee isn't as spectacular as their beautiful breakfast pastries.
