Hints On Solving a SSC
======================
The only proper single letter words in the English language are I and A.
A is more common (overall) than I, and it's a much more common initial and
final letter. I is common as the 3rd to last letter (*ing). I is also a
bit more common as a doubled letter, but not by much.

When a 3 letter word with an apostrophe between the 2nd and 3rd letters
starts a sentence, it's very commonly IT'S.

The 3rd letter from the end of long words is often I, as part of the
suffixes: *ING, *ION, *ITY, *INE. You can narrow it down further. N is the
most common consonant in the English language. Y is uncommon, and often
occurs at the end of a word.

See the double letter frequency chart at the end

A doubled letter at the end of a word having more than 3 letters is usually
L or S.

Hints based on punctuation
--------------------------
A three letter word after a series of words set off by commas is often AND.

A word with an apostrophe at the end usually has S as its last letter.

A word with an apostrophe right before the last letter will have S (showing
possession) or T (contracted 'NOT') as its last letter. Don't forget
contractions like WE'D, HE'D, I'D, etc.

A word with an apostrophe right before the 2nd to last letter will usually
have VE (contraction for HAVE) or RE (contraction for ARE) as the last two
letters.

A question beginning with a 3 letter word is usually WHY or WHO. You can
select which one based on the infrequency of Y. Other words are, of
course, WHAT, WHEN, WHICH, WHERE. In all cases, H will be the 2nd letter.
